    About the Customer

TLYNT is a dual-faceted content creation platform aimed at two sets of users: content creators and advertisers. The platform is designed to facilitate a seamless flow of project-based content creation and approval.

    Customer Challenge

TLYNT’s primary challenge was to build a robust, scalable platform from scratch with a limited budget, while ensuring fast, iterative releases. They needed to achieve this without compromising on infrastructure design, which had to be scalable for future growth. A key concern was the ability to manage infrastructure and development workflows in a way that minimized operational costs during the MVP phase while maintaining high efficiency in deployment, monitoring, and scaling.

In addition, TLYNT required a solution that could support complex media processing workflows for content creators and advertisers, while ensuring seamless integration across multiple platforms—web and mobile. They needed a flexible, DevOps-driven approach to automate infrastructure management, optimize for agility, and enable continuous deployment.

Why the Customer Chose Tech Holding

TLYNT selected Tech Holding because of their proven track record in implementing advanced DevOps practices and cloud-based solutions that balance cost-efficiency with future scalability. Key reasons included:

    • Expertise in AWS Solutions: Tech Holding demonstrated deep knowledge in using AWS services to deliver scalable, cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
    • DevOps Best Practices: Their ability to integrate CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning, and establish seamless workflows for rapid releases was crucial for TLYNT’s goal of iterative development.
    • Focus on Flexibility and Agility: Tech Holding’s approach allowed for flexibility in the development process, reducing technical debt and the need for significant refactors as the platform grew.
    • Cost Optimization Strategies: They offered a practical approach to keep costs low while building a solid infrastructure designed to scale effortlessly.

    Tech Holding Solution

Tech Holding implemented a DevOps-driven solution for TLYNT, focusing on automation, continuous delivery, and scalable infrastructure. The core of the solution included:

    1. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Using Terraform and Terragrunt, Tech Holding provisioned all infrastructure on AWS. This approach allowed for automated, consistent deployments, reducing manual configuration errors and ensuring reproducibility across environments.
    2. CI/CD Pipelines: The code and infrastructure were hosted in GitHub with integrated CI/CD pipelines, enabling seamless deployment of both application code and infrastructure changes. This setup allowed for trunk-based development, ensuring rapid iterations and zero-downtime deployments. Automated testing and staging environments helped streamline the release process.
    3. AWS Infrastructure: The architecture was designed for scalability, hosting services like the GraphQL API on ECS Fargate to manage containerized workloads and reduce operational overhead. S3, CloudFront, and Elemental MediaConvert were used for efficient media storage, content delivery, and processing, while Lambda functions were leveraged for event-based processes.
    4. Segmentation and Microservices: Tech Holding implemented a microservices-based architecture, using Node.js REST APIs for core functionalities and Apollo GraphQL to provide a unified interface. The REST APIs were initially deployed on AWS Lambda behind an API Gateway to reduce costs but were later migrated to ECS Fargate to eliminate cold starts and improve latency.
    5. VPC Configuration and Network Security: All resources interacting with REST APIs and the database were placed in a dual-stack VPC, with public subnets only for the ALB, NAT Gateway, and Egress Gateway. All other components were securely hosted in private subnets, ensuring strong network isolation and minimizing security risks.
    6. Automated Media Processing: Lambda@Edge was used to generate and store optimized media on the first request, reducing unnecessary resource consumption and costs. Video processing tasks were automated with Elemental MediaConvert, triggered by S3 file events, and the process monitored through EventBridge, ensuring seamless and cost-effective media handling.

    Results and Benefits

The deployment of TLYNT’s platform by Tech Holding using modern DevOps practices resulted in several key benefits:

    • Automated and Efficient Infrastructure Management: By implementing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and automating deployments via CI/CD, Tech Holding drastically reduced manual overhead and human error. This enabled consistent and reliable infrastructure provisioning across development, staging, and production environments.

    • Rapid, Continuous Releases: The integration of CI/CD pipelines allowed TLYNT to iterate and deploy changes rapidly, reducing time-to-market for new features. This helped TLYNT remain agile and responsive to evolving user needs.

    • Cost Optimization: During the MVP phase, costs were kept low by utilizing AWS Lambda and API Gateway for REST APIs and S3 for media storage. Once the platform scaled, ECS Fargate was introduced to improve performance and handle higher workloads efficiently. This flexibility allowed TLYNT to minimize costs while preparing for future growth.

    • Scalability and Performance: The use of AWS ECS Fargate, CloudFront, and Elemental MediaConvert ensured that TLYNT’s platform was not only scalable but also optimized for high-performance media processing and delivery. This allowed TLYNT to serve both creators and advertisers seamlessly, with minimal latency and efficient resource usage.

    • Security and Resilience: The architecture’s design—with isolated private subnets for critical resources, automated backups, and scalable microservices—ensured a secure, resilient system that could grow as TLYNT’s user base expanded.

By focusing on DevOps best practices, Tech Holding successfully delivered a cost-effective, scalable platform that allowed TLYNT to remain agile, automate infrastructure management, and maintain flexibility for future growth. This positioned TLYNT to iterate rapidly, meet their MVP goals, and prepare for long-term scalability, all while adhering to strict budgetary constraints.
