The website began as a simple CMS-driven informational platform designed to direct potential patients to a brick-and-mortar clinic for in-person treatment. However, recognizing the growing demand for convenient, accessible, and technology-driven healthcare solutions, Viapromeds evolved into a fully functional telehealth platform. This transformation enabled patients to complete medical consultations, receive prescriptions, and manage their treatment plans entirely online. By integrating robust authentication processes, seamless payment systems, and electronic health record (EHR) integrations, Viapromeds has successfully positioned itself as a trusted digital telehealthcare provider.

    The Challenges

    As Viapromeds transitioned from an informational website to a telehealth platform, several key challenges emerged. The initial site lacked the necessary infrastructure to support online consultations, prescription management, and patient record storage. Additionally, ensuring a secure and compliant payment processing system, particularly for subscription-based medical treatments, proved complex.     To address these challenges, Tech Holding leveraged AWS cloud services to build a scalable, secure, and compliant telehealth solution. Key enhancements included:

    • Infrastructure & Security: AWS Application Load Balancer (ALB) was implemented to ensure secure, high-availability traffic management, while AWS ECS (Elastic Container Service) allowed for scalable deployment of application services. Amazon RDS was used for secure, encrypted storage of patient data, ensuring compliance with data protection standards. Sensitive configurations, including API keys and database credentials, were securely stored using AWS Parameter Store to enhance security posture.
    • Order Processing & Payments: Subscription-based payment options were expanded with seamless PayPal and Pay Later financing integration, improving transaction flexibility for users. Automated workflows ensured that orders were submitted upon PayPal payment completion, reducing abandoned transactions.
    • Flexible Patient Questionnaires: For every treatment plan, a custom and flexible questionnaire was created that could capture user responses that could be used to determine a patient’s eligibility for treatment. The system could easily identify ineligible patients from eligible ones. Eligible patients were then forwarded to a provider who can review the patient’s responses and offer treatment; completely online.
    • Enhanced Admin Panel: Administrators gained the ability to manage subscriptions, archive flagged records, and seamlessly integrate rejection notes into patient records. Medical rejection workflows were improved by flagging rejection questions in red, ensuring clear visibility for follow-ups.
    • Automation & Communication: AWS SNS (Simple Notification Service) facilitated real-time notifications, enhancing communication between patients, providers and the platform itself. Additionally, ElastiCache was leveraged to improve application performance, reducing load times for critical functions.

    The transformation of Viapromeds into a comprehensive telehealth platform has significantly enhanced the patient experience and administrative efficiency. Patients now benefit from a frictionless consultation and ordering process, with reduced payment errors and improved access to medical treatment. This solution scaled the number of patients that were assessed in a single day from dozens to hundreds per day - a 100x increase. Administrators can efficiently manage medical rejections, order details, and compliance-driven workflows. These changes reduced patient administration time from hours to minutes. Additionally, automated authentication and EHR integration have streamlined operations, ensuring that Viapromeds remains at the forefront of digital healthcare innovation.
